Message from SSM President
Congratulations to all the athletes, coaches, and parents who attended the Crocus Challenge this weekend at Pan Am Pool. It was an incredibly busy weekend for all, but it was wonderful to see so many participating in the sport that we all love. Special thanks to the Winnipeg Synchro Team for hosting this event, especially Cheryl Yip (meet manager), Moni Fricke (volunteer coordinator), Nadia Chaput (announcer), Dominique Landers (hospitality), Jamie Owens (Awards), and Kenneth Landgraff (Music), and all the hard-working volunteers. Special thanks also to Doris Wolfe from Winnipeg Synchro and the Thunder Bay Crew for providing much needed help with the Synchro Canada testing event.
At this time I would like to thank key SSM volunteers who have helped at this meet and all season, devoting hundreds of hours, mostly behind the scenes, to make our competitions such a success. We all owe a HUGE debt of gratitude to Kim Reimer and Diane Rutherford, who stepped up serve in the role of Competition Chair, which an unbelievable amount of work. Another massive job that goes largely unnoticed is Scorekeeping -- thank you, Sharon Trevena and Kim Reimer, for serving as Head Scorer at our meets. Thanks also to our two Head Referees, Cindy Ediger and Gina McGuffin, who have kept our meets running smoothly and providing advice as needed. Our Chief Official, Laura Ealing, and our Officials Chair, Allison Gervais, were also invaluable, thank you so much: where would this sport be without our Officials? And, last but not least, many thanks to the wonderful Connel Trevena, Music Chair and all-round computer guru, who helps out even though he does NOT have a daughter who used to swim! Also many thanks to Kim Knowles -- not a volunteer, but someone who took on the difficult task of filling in as Executive Director while Allison is on leave.
And finally, thank you to the coaches and parents who have guided
our athletes and provided support.
I hope to see everyone at Espoir! If you aren't swimming, please consider volunteering!
Finally -- you may have noticed Renee Kardash, a professional photographer, on deck taking pictures during Crocus.
She expects to have the photos available on-line at www.reneekardashphotography.pixieset.com shortly.
Visit the web-site, select our competition, the photographs will be categorized by day and event.
Message from SSM President
Congratulations to all of our swimmers, coaches, judges, and parents who are returning from the 2016 National Qualifiers in beautiful Quebec City. Manitoba was there in strength, with 25 athletes participating in many events (figures, solos, duets, and teams for both 13-15 and Juniors; as well as Combo)! Many athletes improved on their “personal best” scores; some teams had their best performance of the year to date; and ALL did a fine job representing our province.

Thanks again for everyone's work to make Marj Simpson a successful competition. I think it was the smoothest one yet! I know that some of you put in as much time into synchro as our athletes do, your efforts are very much appreciated. Heather, I hope you can pass my thanks on to your club members, I saw many volunteers contributing but I do not have all of their e-mail addresses. And Sharon, I hope you can pass my thanks on to Connell, who helps not only with music but with keeping our hardware running smoothly for score keeping.
